Stacks enables smart contracts for Bitcoin. It's the programming layer for Web3's sound money layer. Like Bitcoin, Stacks is optimized for security and decentralization, so it only makes sense for participants of the Bitcoin app economy to be able to use Ledger, the industry standard for securely storing digital assets.
To access the Stacks app on Ledger, simply search the Ledger Live App Catalog and follow the installation instructions. These steps are detailed in the FAQs on our page and on Ledger.
Ledger hardware wallets manage cryptocurrencies via “apps” that have to be installed on the user’s device using the Ledger app store. With the Stacks app for Ledger, people can use their Ledger hardware wallets to manage their Stacks (STX) holdings—just connect the Hiro Wallet (MacOS, Windows and Linux) with your Ledger wallet.
The Stacks app was previously available in “developer mode,” but is now available for everyone with a Ledger device to easily find and install. The Stacks app for Ledger has been compatible with the desktop Hiro Wallet since the launch of Stacks 2.0. Compatibility with the Hiro Wallet browser extension is coming soon. Please note: Stacks accounts are not yet supported on the Ledger Live software wallet.
