But one piece of feedback we kept hearing is how do we make it easier to build on Bitcoin? How can we simplify the developer experience? With the Hiro Platform, that’s exactly what we did.
The Hiro platform enables you to create and deploy Bitcoin smart contracts directly from a web browser, without a single installation.
With this new hosted experience, you have access to a number of features that let you:
- Create new projects or import your GitHub projects directly into the platform.
- Build smart contracts in a convenient, ready-to-use developer environment.
- Deploy smart contracts to testnet and mainnet directly from your web browser.
To kickstart your development journey, we also provide a curated list of popular Clarity smart contract examples that can be ported directly into your project, including Bitcoin NFTs, trustless swaps between Stacks and Lightning, and more.
The platform comes with pre-installed tools, such as VS Code, Clarity for VS Code, and Clarinet, which means you can go from contract conception to mainnet deployment faster than you can say “Satoshi.”

Why We Built the Platform
With the Hiro Platform, we plan to eliminate the friction developers encounter from a fragmented developer experience, one involving the discovery and implementation of various developer tools. Our goal is to remove that burden from developers, so they can focus more on productizing their business on the Stacks blockchain. We believe this will open the door to more developers who want to build on Bitcoin, the original and most secure blockchain.
Our ultimate aim is to support full stack Stacks development and observability.
By reducing friction around setting up your environment and then context switching between various tools, we aim to provide a one-stop shop that offers an end-to-end development solution for all of your smart contract needs. This platform can help minimize the time and the manual steps required to onboard the next 1,000 Clarity developers and increase the productivity and shipping velocity of those already building on Stacks.
And this is just the beginning. The Hiro Platform has an ambitious roadmap, including support for multi-contract deployment plans, event-driven chainhooks that react to Bitcoin, Ordinals, and Stacks blockchain events, and more. Our ultimate aim is to support full stack Stacks development and observability.
